May 2010
May was good. The weather was crazy. Snow on the weekend before Memorial Day weekend is a surprise! We are definitely ready for some good warm Spring weather. I won't complain about weather that is sunny and in the 70's to 80's. I'm even okay if it rains at night! This way I won't have to water my yard as often!
We celebrated Mother's day in style. I did nothing. I did try to mow the lawn while Nick was planting the garden, but then he freaked out that I was doing something. I was definitely spoiled all weekend long. Nick let me splurge, and we got some Thai food. Mmmm. One of my favorites! It was a nice weekend.
Nick was great getting so much done in the yard. We did plant our garden outside on Mother's Day weekend, but it soon died with all of the snow and cold weather that we had this month! Crazy. We had to break down and buy starts since all of ours died before or after we got them in the ground. Maybe next year we'll be better at having healthy plants!
Anyhow, one good thing I accomplished was completing my second 1/2 marathon. I ran in the Great Idaho Potato 1/2 Marathon on May 15th. It was so much better that the first one I did last October. I ran (slowly jogged) most of the way. I did this slow jog until I reached mile 10. I walked through the water station and then maybe another 200 yards or so, and then I was off again. I did this again around mile 12 maybe. I can't be for sure.
Anyhow, I felt great the whole time. I met a nice lady while on the run. We kept passing each other the whole time, and so we ended up talking a bit. I think her name was Betty. I ended up passing her around mile 12 and beat her by maybe 2 minutes, but I saw her at the end. It was nice to have someone to run with. We kept each other going.
I did beat my old time by almost 2 minutes or so. My time was 03:06:54:06. I know it is not a super great time, but I'm very proud of myself, and I will just do better on my next one this coming October. I'm going to be in the City of Trees Half Marathon again unless some other exciting life altering thing takes place.
It was also so nice to meet up with Brandi for the whole thing. She picked me up at and took me to the starting line, and I'm sure glad she did. It was really cold and windy there first thing in the morning at Lucky Peak. We ran together for a mile or so, but then she left me in the dust. She did so well and got done in about 2 hrs and 20 min. I'm super proud of her! Anyhow, here we are at the starting line.
Here I am running into the finish line. Nick and Nolan met me there, and it was so great to see them there. Nolan got all excited when he saw me, and it made me want to run all that faster so I could just give him a big hug!
